WSSA AGM: New Committee, Big Plans Ahead

Thanks to all who attended the AGM on 9 March. A new committee was elected, future plans were outlined, and a key constitutional change was passed. With the High Court Judicial Review set for 14 July, the Association is working hard — but still well short of its fundraising goal.

Focus on the Future: The WSSA’s Western Springs Speedway Proposal

Information regarding the long-term future of Open Wheel Speedway:
➡️WSSA’s $20 Million Revitalization Plan: The Western Springs Speedway Association (WSSA)
has unveiled a fully funded, detailed $20 million proposal to revive speedway at Western Springs.
🔹️Key Detail: This comprehensive plan includes securing the long-term future of the
speedway track and adding a fitness complex to the venue.
🔹️This plan involves no extra council funding.
❌️Waikaraka Park Status: Open Wheel Speedway’s current agreement at
Waikaraka Park is confirmed as only a two-year deal.

The WSSA’s plan represents a path toward a permanent, multi-use facility for the sport.

Council Lawyers have responded to our Judicial Review documents lodged at the High Court
Despite what most think they have confirmed that the Council has not removed Speedway from Western Springs
We are still monitoring the situation and awaiting a High Court Date to be set.
