Western Springs Speedway Association AGM Confirms New Committee and Outlines Major Projects Ahead
The Western Springs Speedway Association held its Annual General Meeting on 9 March, with a strong turnout from members showing continued commitment to the future of the club and the protection of Western Springs Speedway.
Members confirmed the incoming committee for the year ahead:
- Chairman: Craig Steinbring
- Secretary: Susanne Davis
- Treasurer: Ron Kendall
- Committee Members: Jason Jones, James Selwyn, Lance Anderson, Gina Harris
A small constitutional amendment was passed, allowing future AGMs to be held anytime between March and July. This provides greater flexibility and ensures the meeting cycle can better align with the speedway season and the Association’s operational needs.
During the meeting, Craig Steinbring and Lance Anderson outlined several major projects already underway, including preparation for the High Court Judicial Review scheduled for 14 July.
This legal challenge is a critical step in holding Auckland Council accountable for its decision-making around Western Springs — and it represents a significant financial undertaking.
While the Association has made progress, we remain well short of our fundraising target to cover legal costs.
Every contribution helps, and we encourage supporters to consider donating or joining as members to strengthen our campaign.
Members also highlighted the need for stronger communication between the committee, the wider membership and Public.
The new committee has committed to making this an early priority as planning for the year progresses.
Membership for the 2024/25 season remains open, with options available for Social Members, Drivers, and Car Owners.
